Champlain Modern

Shelburne, Vermont    |    2012

Champlain Modern is a residence located on a wooded peninsula on Lake Champlain. The massing is composed of two angular wings surrounding a central courtyard and connected by an entry corridor. The material palette is composed of natural materials: western red cedar, corten cladding, corral board, and board-formed concrete, designed to age gracefully and blend seamlessly into the surroundings. Large hip roofs with eight foot eaves define the two wings and create two dramatic twenty-six foot cantilevered overhangs to frame views out to the lake.
