A residence, guest cottage, and horse barn on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain within the original estate of Shelburne Farms.

Within the same parcel, each building is set in its own landscape: the house by the water, the guest house in the woods, and the barn in the field. Similar details of cedar siding, metal standing-seam roof, and window compositions connect the overall aesthetic language of the estate.

Inspired by the client’s desire for the architecture to harmoniously reflect the natural surroundings.

The program consists of a great room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, master suite, guest bedrooms, map room, library, offices, sunroom, mudroom, exercise area, spa, garage, and exterior terraces.

Sustainability components include grid-tied 19kw photovoltaic array; Low-E, triple-pane, argon-filled insulated window system; geothermal heating and cooling system; centralized lighting control system; efficient jobsite waste management and recycling; and R40 walls and R60 roof.
