Vermont

About
A modern Vermont retreat.
Built on a ridgeline between meadow and forest, Terrapin was designed to hover over the land and capture expansive views.
The home was elevated on concrete pillars, lifting it above the ground and creating a sense of lightness. The massing was stacked to echo the layers of rock on the site. Black-stained, knotty cedar was chosen as the singular exterior material. Exterior and interior materials carry through uninterrupted, blurring the boundary between inside and out. Vertical planes of glass intersect wood ceilings, and walls transition seamlessly between environments.
