Experienced/Lead Carpenter

Location: Woodstock, Vermont region (and various job sites)

Type: Full-Time, Employee-Owned

We are seeking Experienced or Lead Carpenters to join our dynamic construction company and architectural design. This position is ideal for candidates with eight or more years of work experience in construction who are motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented.

In this role, you will help execute complex, high-performance designs that bridge the gap between construction and finished craft. You will work on homes that require a reverence for materials and a commitment to precision.

The Craft (Responsibilities)

Material Expertise: Execute work across all phases of construction with a focus on durability and beauty—from complex framing and timber detailing to architectural joinery and interior finishes.

Integrated Execution: Work directly with architects and project managers to interpret complex details, ensuring the design intent is preserved in the field.

Mentorship & Collaboration: As an experienced or lead team member, you will set the pace and standard on site, modeling safe practices, efficiency, and a collaborative spirit for the crew.

Site Management: Maintain a rigorous standard of organization and cleanliness, respecting the landscape and the job site as a professional work environment.

Who You Are

Experienced: You have 8+ years of professional carpentry or building experience, with a background and portfolio that demonstrates skill in high-end residential or architectural building.

Detail-Oriented: You understand that in minimalist design, there is nowhere to hide. You take pride in tight tolerances and clean lines.

Reliable: You are punctual, prepared, and ready to engage with the work, regardless of the Vermont weather.

Growth-Minded: You are eager to learn new building science techniques and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe that those who contribute to the company’s success should directly benefit from it.

Pay Range: $30–36/hour, commensurate with experience and/or leadership capability.

Employee Ownership (ESOP): Birdseye has been employee-owned since 2005. You will earn shares in the company annually, sharing directly in the growth and prosperity of the business.

Financial Security: 401(k) with employer matching and Long-Term Disability insurance.

Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision insurance with employer contribution, plus a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

Tools of the Trade: We provide an Annual Tool Stipend to help you maintain the quality gear you need to do your best work.

Culture: We believe in giving back; all employees receive 10 hours of paid volunteer time each year. We work hard, but we celebrate just as hard. Expect inclusive parties, high-quality swag, and a team that actually likes each other.
