Artist’s Residence

North Ferrisburgh, Vermont    |    2003

Artist’s Residence is a project in collaboration with Birdseye and H. Keith Wagner of Wagner Hodgson Landscape Architecture. The house reflects Wagner’s minimalist aesthetic. The 4500 SF house is situated on a wide open meadow. The project consists of the main house and two art studios. The simplicity of form and material and compositional planning all reflect a very agrarian landscape. The house is clad in white board and batten detail with two large overhead garage door/windows penetrating the house, evoking large barn doors. The two art studios are clad in corrugated metal, further enhancing the vernacular. The landscape is a contemporary plan of concrete walls, crushed bluestone walkways with honey locust trees and sculptural metal spheres.
